Women's Paddle

Ann Kautzmann
Women's Paddle Trustee

Don’t miss out on the winter fun at URTC!  Paddle is a fun, active and social game meant for doubles play in the cold weather months.  Whether you have never tried paddle or you have been playing for years, the paddle court is a high-energy, activity packed with excitement and plenty of challenge.

Paddle, also known as Platform Tennis, was created nearly 100 years ago across the Hudson River in Scarsdale, NY.  We have seven great courts right here at Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club--one of the largest offering of paddle courts in the area!  All seven courts have lighting so you can enjoy this sport night and day.

We have jumped into the 2020-21 season with "Intro to Paddle" clinics. There are additional opportunities to take clinics with one of our talented pros to learn the game and/or tweak your game to take it to a higher level.  THere is lots of social play going on all the time.  URTC has a talented group of players who enjoy their inter league and State Series level play as much as their social play.  There are many opportunities to play paddle at URTC.
Play with experienced platform tennis players from the URTC women’s teams on weekday mornings.  Details to follow.

Women’s Platform Tennis Teams:  Would you like to play on a competitive URTC team?  If so, let us know! URTC participates in both the New Jersey Women's Platform Tennis League (NJWPTL, "state league") and the Women's Inter-club Paddle League (WIPL, "inter-club league").  The NJWPTL matches, re held on Tuesday mornings.

WIPL (Women's Interclub Paddle League) matches take place on Wednesdays at either 9:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., depending on the team level. In the WIPL, URTC has women's teams from the A to E levels. Matches commence in October. Any members, who are not already on a team but who would like to participate, are asked to contact Ann Kautzmann, via email at Join in the fun!

Club events are a fun time, too!  We plan tournaments like, Women's Member-Member, Women's Member-Guest, Mixed Member-Member and many social events.  Dates for the tournaments are all TBD.  Emails will be sent to promote the social play on weekends and or weekday evenings.
